It would be very nice if you could use the QTH locator square grids in the field.Ĭool. Such a small remark is still unknown to most people, so they do not know what the "Maidenhead" coordinate system means. It would be useful to turn on for a moment a visual preview of the square grid, because how do I say I'm in the square JOXXxx XXxx, I'm moving towards the square JOXXxx XXyy? The need to click on the map and only to read the square seems to me a little uncomfortable, and turning on the compass adds nothing, because there are geographical coordinates.

The second point is that you need to display a square on line to report your current position.

In the field, to find yourself, however, you need accuracy to the fifth square, i.e.

I know the Locator QTH specification speaks of three squares because it was invented to inform base stations where they are. Three squares allow the exchange of information such that I am in London for example. The third square, however, gives too little accuracy.
